Corvette Racing
Wins Petit Le Mans!!
Braselton, GA. - Corvette Racing beat the heat, beat the clock and beat its rivals to win today's 1,000-mile Petit LeMans endurance race at Road Atlanta. Corvette Racing teammates Oliver Gavin, Olivier Beretta and Jan Magnussen duplicated their earlier win in the 24 Hours of Le Mans with their No. 4 Compuware Corvette C6.R. The trio completed 379 laps, finishing one lap ahead of the No. 57 Aston Martin DBR9 and third overall.
Gavin and Beretta scored their sixth win in their last seven starts and took a 15-point lead (173-158) over their Corvette Racing teammates Ron Fellows and Johnny O'Connell in the GT1 championship standings. The No. 3 Compuware Corvette of Fellows, O'Connell and Max Papis retired after 357 laps and was credited with a sixth-place finish in the GT1 division.

"Now we have won the big LeMans and the small LeMans in one year!" said Beretta, who scored his 23rd career ALMS victory. "Olly and Jan are fast and clever teammates; they know when to push and when it is time to save the car. The Corvette C6.R has shown it's the car to have in GT1. This race was quite hard because of the traffic, but we didn't have contact once today. At the end I was just taking care of the car.
While the No. 4 car had a trouble-free day, the No. 3 car was beset by handling problems early and a valvetrain issue that ultimately ended its race.
"We haven't had good luck at this race, but congratulations to the team on the No. 4 Corvette," said O'Connell. "It was a difficult weekend for us, but everyone gave 110 percent. We have one more race to run this season, and we'll go to Laguna Seca to see if we can't get No. 3 back in the winner's circle."
"At the end of the day, there's still a yellow car in the winner's circle, and that's good news for Corvette Racing," added Fellows. "Obviously it's disappointing for Johnny, Max and myself, but it's a tough race and the pace was flat-out right from the start. That's why Corvette Racing has two cars in the race because you never know if you're going to have a problem. Often it's a 1-2 finish, but not today." Today's result marked Corvette Racing's fifth Petit LeMans victory in six years.

Corvette Racing Wins at Mosport!! BOWMANVILLE, Ont.- Congrats to the #4 C6R Corvette on their win at Mosport, and taking a 1 point lead in the standings over the #3 C6R Corvette of their teammates!! The No. 3 Compuware Corvette of Ron Fellows and Johnny O'Connell finished 2.022 seconds behind it's sister car as Corvette Racing posted its 30th 1-2 finish since 2001. The victory by Gavin and Beretta gave them a 1-point lead (147-146) in the GT1 drivers championship with two races remaining. Corvette Racing labored long and hard in the Labor Day Weekend Grand Prix of Mosport, and the toil paid off with the team's seventh victory of the season in the American Le Mans Series. The 2-hour, 30-minute race was literally won in the pits as a quick final stop by the crew of the No. 4 Compuware Corvette C6.R vaulted Oliver Gavin into the lead at the 2-hour mark. "Strategy and pit work won the
race for us," Gavin said. "We didn't have the fastest car on the track today. What won it for us was the Corvette Racing team and the hard work they've put in this year." Both Corvettes were gone in 30 seconds on their final stops with four fresh tires and enough gas to run to the finish. "The No. 4 and the No. 3 car had almost identical pit stops," reported Ray Gongla, crew chief for the victorious No. 4 Corvette C6.R. "We were quicker by about a second, and that was just enough to make the difference on the track. We really push to do quick stops, and our engineers' strategies were spot-on. The drivers did their job, the crew guys did their job, and together we got it done today." O'Connell had to fend off the rapidly closing Saleen in the final laps. He finished .644 seconds ahead of his pursuer at the checkered flag." It was hard, hard work," O'Connell said. "It's been a long time since I've pushed that hard. It was a really good fight and an exciting race for the fans." Grand Prix of Mosport GT1 Results: Pos./Drivers/Car/Laps 1. Gavin/Beretta, Chevrolet Corvette C6.R, 119 2. August 29, 2005New on the Floor at the Corvette Museum!! Three great Corvettes have been placed on display at the museum just in time for the Corvette Celebration courtesy of GM.
On display now through the remainder of the year you will find the 2002 “Tiger Shark” Corvette. The “Tiger Shark” Corvette has had a special place in America’s garage for nearly 50 years. Deep in the recess of Chevrolet’s styling and engineering studios, a new concept vehicle is always in the works. This supercharged 742HP beast pays homage to Mako Shark II. Also new to the floor, the 1989 Splash Challenge Car featuring a custom paint scheme by John Cafaro and the GM Design staff members. The Reynolds Aluminum Corvette – 1972 Chevrolet XP-895 is also a new addition and was one of a series of experimental Corvettes built to explore alternative engine placements and chassis layouts. Two complete XP-895 Corvettes were built - one with a steel body and the second with an aluminum body created as a joint venture between GM and Reynolds Aluminum.

August 21, 2005 Corvette Racing Wins 1-2 at Road America!!ELKHART LAKE, Wis. - Wow, the awesome C6-R's have once again posted another win in their ALMS run to the championship!! Technically, they have secured the manufacturers championship with this win at Road America!!
A .132-second victory by Oliver Gavin and Olivier Beretta in the No. 4 Compuware Corvette C6.R over their Corvette Racing
teammates Ron Fellows and Johnny O'Connell mathematically clinched the GT1 Manufacturers Championship for Chevrolet and
the team championship for Corvette Racing. "Chevrolet races to win in every series, so it's a great day when Chevy wraps up it's fifth consecutive ALMS manufacturers championship," said
Corvette Racing program manager Doug Fehan. "There was some intense, exciting racing on the track. If the race had gone
one more lap, the outcome might have been different." Congratulations to the Corvette Race Team!
SPECIAL NOTE: Congrats to the #5 C5R as well on it's finish!! While the 5th place finish was actually unexpected in the race, congrats are in order for their excellent day!! Close to the end of the race, in the final 30 minutes, the #5 C5R was still in 3rd place turning better times than all
other GT1 competitors and running with the C6R's, on the lead lap, for a 2nd consecutive 1-2-3 finish for the Corvettes. Like the #4 C6R, the #5 C5R was running with
tires that were not up to par. A blowout to the left rear tire caused serious rear suspension damage, and put the C5R behind the wall. The 5th place finish was the end result. Truly unfortunate, but worth a huge thumbs up for their great race!! Hopefully, they can accomplish a 1-2-3 finish for the Corvettes in the next race on Sept. 4th. The NCR is rooting for the Corvettes!!
